MCT Designer Challenge

My Creative Time has such fun challenges!  Here are the inspiration picture and sketch.

Here is my take on the challenge using the sketch, colors and heart love.

I cut out two hearts from the Heart 2 Heart Love Frame Dies.  It looks grey in the photo but the heart background is a tan with white hearts that was printed on my printer.  The card base is Chocolate PTI paper.  I cut the arrow from scraps of kraft and a pink stripe strip, from the 4X4 Journal Die + More die set.  I cut the white frame using dies from Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More set.  I like how the card turned out but still think it needs something more.  I had fun trying to come up with something a little different.  Below is a list of products used.

MCT Products Used:

4x4 Journal Die + More - the arrow
Heart 2 Heart Love Frame Dies - the hearts
Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More - the white frame

I hope you liked my take on this fun challenge.  Thank you for dropping by!

MCT Designer Challenge

There is a fun challenge at My Creative Time and I had a good time playing along.  I decided to go with using the sketch.  It is Advent and the sketch reminded me of candles.  I stamped the Grainy Wood Background with Ranger Watermark Resist, onto Paper Trey Ink Chocolate Paper, that had been die cut using Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More.  I cut 4 of the Stitched Decorative Banners and colored them purple and pink using Distress Inks.  Next, using the largest heart, I double cut the Stitched Heart Layering Dies, on yellow paper to make a flame shape.  I inked them up with Distress Ink to give some color and dimension.  I stamped the boughs from Boughs of Holly onto green paper to make the candles appear to be on an Advent Wreath.  The banner was made using a stamp from A Day in December set.  It is stamped using brown ink and cut to leave a white frame around the stamped shape.  I added some Diamond Stickles to the boughs for a little sparkle.  Here is a picture of what I came up with.

MCT Challenge

I always like to play along with the challenge at My Creative Time.  I decided to go with the sketch for inspiration.  Here is the card I came up with for the challenge.

I loved the colors in the sketch and went with them pretty much.  I used the Happy Birthday embossing folder for the kraft background that was cut using the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More.  I used the Stitched Party Dies for some of the balloons and the circle and oval from Seasonal Greetings.  I inked up the balloons for some dimension.  I glued them down and attached black sewing thread for balloon strings.  I cut two layers for the label in blue and white using the label layers from the Stitched Rectangular Frame Dies & More.  I also used the Celebrate die from that set.  I stamped the sentiment from Celebrate Good Times and mounted the card front to a chocolate card base.  I had fun making this card for the challenge.  I hope you like it...thank you for stopping by.

MCT September Challenge

I always like a good challenge and glad I finally managed to squeeze some time in to make something for the challenge at My Creative Time.  Here is what I came up with for the challenge.

I always need a good thank you card ready to send out.  I love the sentiment dies and thought it would be fun to use the thanks die from the Happy Thoughts stamp and die set.  I cut the thanks from paint chips that I had from the True Value Store.  I cut the S off of the last one to say thank and cut the you from the Picture Perfect stamp and die set.  I glued the sentiment die cuts onto a scrap of black paper I had.  I prepared a scrap of paper with some metal sticky tape from the hardware store...this comes on a large roll and is very sticky.  I cut two Fun Stitched Edges from it to go on each side of the black paper.  Thank you for dropping by and taking a look.

MCT Products Used:

Happy Thoughts - thanks
Picture Perfect - you
Fun Stitched Edges

I have been busy planning for a Bridal Shower I hosted.  I made a bunch of envelopes for the shower invitations and as a gift for the Bride with Thank You cards, postage stamps and address labels.  I found it was faster to make the envelopes by cutting the papers 3 at a time using my Rotary Cutter, Rotary Mat and Ruler.  These items are usually used for cutting fabric but I often use them to accurately cut my papers instead of my paper trimmer.  I was able to use 3 squares at a time in the Envelope Board.

The shower was for giving towards the Honeymoon Trip which will be in Jamaica so the table favors just had to have a tropical and beach theme.  Here is a picture of what I came up with.

I made over 30 of them and I am happy with how they turned out.  I used an SVG from Miss Kate Cuttables for the palm tree leaves.  I used a hole punch for the coconuts.

MCT Products Used:

Stitched Lollipop Holder
Live, Love, Laugh & Be Happy - large butterfly stamp for the sand
You Are Fabulous - for the ocean blue
Surf's Up - the cute starfish
Sit Back & Relax - flip flops
Stitched & Scallop Circle
Teeny Tag Greetings - for the sentiment

I found some bags with ties at a Party City store and filled them with Bliss, Hugs and Kisses.  I looked for some fancy suckers but didn't have much luck. Then the thought hit me that pretzel sticks looked a lot like a tree trunk...more than a sucker stick...so pretzel rods is what I used.  The party was last Saturday and I believe we all had a good time.  I hope to have more time now to get caught up on yard work and cards.  Thanks for taking a look.

My Creative Time August Challenge

I finally was able to get a card together for the challenge at My Creative Time.  Here is a picture of the challenge.

I made a card for a friend who recently moved.

I started with some PTI paper and embossed it with D'vine Swirls.  I cut the Trio Stitched Banners and used the medium size stamped with Congratulations from the Gift Card Sentiments set.  I wrapped the card with Orange twine and cut a frame from the Stitched Mini Frame & Arrow Dies.  I stamped the "On Your New Home" from the Home Sewn stamp set and I stamped the little house from the All Around Everything Accessories stamp set.  I colored the house with color pencils.  I cut flowers and leaves from the Flower Petal Dies and Stitched Leaves Dies.  I added a silver circle for the flower center.  I had fun playing with the colors in this challenge.  Thanks for dropping by and taking a look!

My Creative Time June Challenge

Today I am sharing a card I have made for the challenge over at
http://www.creativetimeforme.com/2014/06/designer-challenge-patriotic-theme.html
We are to create a card or layout using a sketch and color theme.

Here is what I came up with!

The papers I used were Papertrey Ink and Colorbok pattern papers.  One rose is of vellum.  The white card is from Georgia-Pacific.   A little inking around the sentiment with Distress Ink.

MCT Products used:
Rolled Flower Dies-roses
Stitched Leaves Dies
Stitched Pretty Flowers & Leaves Dies
Surf's Up-surprise flowers
Wow So Many Candles
Gift Card Sentiments
Lowercase Fun Dies

I pretty much chose a neutral background and then made flowers and leaves in the colors needed for the challenge.  I had a lot of fun arranging them and mixing until I was happy with the placement.  Don't you love a good challenge?  I do!

Thank You for stopping by to take a look!

Masculine Themed Challenge at My Creative Time

There is a fun challenge at My Creative Time...The rules are as follows:

~With Father’s Day this month, today’s challenge is to make a MASCULINE THEMED card, layout, tag OR a 3-D item. Anything “guyish” – manly color palette, favorite sport, dad’s favorite chair, etc

Today I am posting a card that I have made for the challenge.  I started with a white card stock and inked up the sky and sand with the Build a Scripty & Watercolor Background using distress inks.  I stamped the birds with the Lost At Sea stamps.  The anchor and chain were cut with the new Anchor & Heart Dies.  I then cut the "you are" from Speech Bubble Sentiments in black card stock and added the "my anchor" from the Hey Sailor! stamp set.

On the inside I cut the sides of white card stock with the Make A Splash Die.  The sentiments are from Here's Lookin' At You and It's All About You  stamp sets.  I added the smaller anchor from the Anchors & Heart Dies, tied with Timeless Twine in Firecracker.
